Escotet, president of the Venezuelan Banesco International Financial Group and the Galician Abanca Banking Corporationis the fifth largest fortune in Spain. According to the recently published Forbes List with the 100 richest Spaniards of 2021, his wealth amounts to 2.7 billion of euros. Within this famous list, he is behind Juan Roig (Mercadona), with 3,700 million, and ahead of Juan Abelló (Torreal), with 2,500 million.
The banker created this limited company to unify and manage his personal assets in June 2020. He set it up with the corporate purpose of “the acquisition, holding and disposal of all kinds of financial assets”.
As published by EL ESPAÑOL-Invertia, the person who manages a large part of Escotet’s investments has been his close collaborator for 30 years Pedro Raul Lopez Jacome, director of Abanca since 2014 and who controls the investment company Miurex Inversiones Hispania (61.65% owner of the fund manager Imantia Capital, where he is vice president). In fact, it was López Jácome who articulated the purchase of the Galician bank for Escotet.
